Edited by: Derron Bel on 15/09/2005 16:24:34 I agree with Siim.
Concern: Such an upgraded punisher would probably outperform the Amarr Navy Slicer, being as it has more grid. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! LooseCannoN> my plans have been foiled! |

The Arb and Vexor are *both* drone cruisers.
The Vexor is (currently) superior in most every respect, though, so complaints --> pfft ;) -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! LooseCannoN> my plans have been foiled! |

Craptacular:
The Arbitrator doesn't have lotsa lasers and armor, though - it has drones. And the Vexor outguns it and outtanks it, so a bit of a weird comparison to make .

The Maller changes are actually a little deeper than you might think- lowering the CPU and boosting the grid slightly nerfs the Small-Turret Setups.

100 m3 is still 10 medium drones, hardly paltry damage dealing. The Thorax will also have only slightly less powergrid than the Maller (its apparent nemesis), so it will be faster (esp considering mwd bonuses) and a superior damage dealer but not as good of a tanker. (As well, far better protected against frigates.)

Tuxford's Dev Blog indicates that yes, they are aware that the executioner's med slot is an issue. (Although if so it's a mystery why a proposed change isn't listed.) -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! In order to be such a superior damage dealer, you'd have to fit med blaster with an optimal of less than 2km.
10 medium drones more than compensate for any supposed lack in railgun performance. :)
The drones are what makes it more capable against frigates.
Ack! I'll stop now. Don't want this whole thread to be just arguing about the Thorax.

May the devs remember that gallente is the drone race plz.
^That's why the Thorax still has like 3x more dronebay than any other race's assault cruisers.
Regarding the Arbitrator: Of course it will have more mid slots than the Vexor, it's changing to an EW cruiser.
** General Point: The devs of most any game don't make changes because of whining, they make changes after looking at the balance themselves.
** General Point: T2 cruisers still have hugely better shields, armor, structure etc. stats. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! LooseCannoN> my plans have been foiled! |

The Vexor is (will be) already a superior ship to the Arbitrator.
it has a damage bonus, it has more armor (950 vs 875), more shields (750 vs 650), more cargo (480 vs 345), more weapon slots (4 vs 3), more grid (675 vs 575), less mass, harder to jam (14 vs 12). About the only things the Arbitrator has (will have) is a lower signature radius (130m vs 150m) and 25 more CPU (300 vs 275).

Yeeeeah..ugly. It would be really nice if there was a plate mass or sig nerf concurrent with these assault cruiser grid inreases. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! LooseCannoN> my plans have been foiled! |

Smartbombs are a silly solution against thoraxes, since a battleship would need to recall its own drones- they'd get splatted by the smartbomb too if the thorax is within blaster range. BS needs drones to hit thorax at that range., thorax doesnt need drones to hit BS. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! Drone balance will be out of whack until they make heavy drones the least efficient in terms of damage/dronebaym3. IMO. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! LooseCannoN> my plans have been foiled! |

There's no place to put another turret on the Omen, and even if there was, it would require Tuxford handing it off to someone else to do that, probably, which would slow the whole thing down. (But if someone could fix the Omen's current turret positions I would be immensely pleased.)
Tuxford:
Maybe something radical, like a subtraction to laser powergrid requirements, to encourage the mounting of heavier weapons. Mind that many people using Omens (ahem) are not going to have maxed-out fitting skills or Advanced Weapon Upgrades.

Yeah it would be nice if BCs at least had high warp speeds (4 or 5 au/s) to help fit their keeping-up-with-frigates description. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! LooseCannoN> my plans have been foiled! |

Very little sympathy considering how much faster the reduced base speeds are compared to other frigates anyways.. say, rifter v punisher. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! LooseCannoN> my plans have been foiled! |
